Galvanising

Galvanising is a protective coating process that applies a layer of zinc to iron or steel items.

What is galvanising?

Galvanising is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to iron or steel to prevent rusting. This process provides long term protection, forming a barrier that prevents corrosive substances from reaching the underlying steel or iron. It has a three way protection: physical barrier, sacrificial protection and prevention of sideways creep.

Galvanised equipment require very low maintenance and are ideal for structures exposed to the elements or in high footfall areas such as:

  • Gates
  • Railings
  • Fences/Barriers
  • Roofing

The finish is smooth and slightly textured and can be painted over. If a higher grade architectural finish is required, powder coating offers a choice of colours and is applied at the time of manufacturing.
